Whether you'd like to row competitively, to keep fit or just for recreation.  Learn to Row is the place to start!

Rowing was once a sport only seen in the Olympics or maybe Ivy League schools, but today it is so much more accessible...and you can do it! It doesn't matter what your age is and no prior experience is needed, you can learn how to be a part of a crew and propel the fastest man powered boat on the water.

The exercise you get from rowing is a full body, low impact workout that you do outside on a our glorious river with a boat full of similar adults. You will learn all about the equipment, terminology, and technique and enjoy every second of your lessons. What makes rowing such an exceptional sport is its complexity. Personally, you are challenged to learn this new motion and sequence which ultimately moves a boat. But what is more, you must do this motion in perfect synchronicity and balance with seven other people, and you do not see nor communicate with them.

Great River's Learn to Row program is a ten session journey where you will learn all the basics of the sport. Each session you will be challenged both mentally and physically. This Learn to Row program will teach you how to sweep row (each person rowing with one oar). The hopeful goal by the end of the program is to have the entire 8 rowing together. It may not sound like a lofty goal, but all who come down realize after the first session what a challenge that is. After your program, you can choose to continue on with a next level program which would involve learning how to scull (rowing with two oars). Once you have successfully completed the Learn to Row programs, you can join up with other new rowers/members and continue to learn and grow in the sport. You can pursue a more competitive path and actually race in big regattas or just enjoy your time and workout with friends on our playground of water.
