Robber Says Restitution Order Isn’t Fair In Stratford Case: Report
The man pleaded guilty to charges in connection with bank robberies in Fairfield, New Canaan and Stratford and was sentenced on Friday.
STRATFORD, CT — A man who was sentenced to more than two years in prison after pleading guilty to charges in connection with bank robberies in Fairfield, New Canaan and Stratford, told a judge Friday that it wasn’t fair that he also has to pay restitution, according to the Connecticut Post.
Wayne Currier, 49, was arrested in July 2021 in connection with bank robberies that took place the previous year. He was accused of robbing People’s Bank in Fairfield and Chase Bank in Stratford on Oct. 13, 2020; People’s Bank in New Canaan on Oct. 28, 2020; and TD Bank in Stratford on Dec. 23, 2020.
The Post reports Currier told the judge that since he didn’t work alone, he shouldn’t have to pay all the restitution. The judge noted that no one else was arrested, and Currier wasn’t willing to withdraw his guilty plea, he just wanted to say he wasn’t happy with the restitution order, according to the Post.
