School Bus Driver Caught Dealing Heroin: Stratford Police
Police say the accused used the school bus to purchase and deliver heroin on several occasions.
STRATFORD, CT — A school bus driver in Stratford is accused of dealing heroin in town and police say he was seen using the school bus during several transactions. Garfield Howell, 29, of Stratford, was arrested Thursday following a lengthy investigation, according to police.
The Stratford Police Narcotics Vice and Intelligence Unit has been conducting a heroin investigation within the town over the past several months. During the investigation, Howell was identified as a suspect as a heroin dealer. Detectives also discovered that Howell is a school bus driver for WE Transport, according to Capt. Frank Eannotti.
Eannotti said that during surveillance detectives saw Howell using the school bus to purchase and deliver heroin on several occasions. Detectives from the Stratford Police Narcotics and Vice Unit along with Bridgeport Police Task Force Members executed a search warrant Thursday in the 2000 block of Barnum Avenue in Stratford. About 195 grams of heroin was seized during the search, according to Eannotti.

Howell was arrested on four counts of sale of narcotics, two counts of conspiracy to sell narcotics and risk of injury to a minor. He is being held on a $100,000 bond and is due in court on April 18.
