Several Coronavirus Cases Reported At Stratford Schools

Officials reported several new coronavirus cases and said some classes and grades will be operating remotely due to staffing concerns.

STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford school district reported several new cases of the coronavirus on Friday. Several classes and grades will be operating remotely due to staffing concerns, according to officials.

The school district notified community members in an email of the following cases:

Second Hill Lane - 2 positive cases. “Close contacts have been notified,” officials wrote. “Special note 1st grade room 21 will be working remotely while we wait for additional information regarding a member’s illness.”

Flood Middle School -1 positive case. “All close contacts have been notified. Special note all of Team Synergy both 7th and 8th grades will be working remotely. This is due to staffing concerns regarding this recent case. Quarantine applies for Cohort A Team Synergy/grade 7.”

Bunnell High School- 1 positive case. “All close contacts have been notified.”

Franklin Elementary - 1 positive case. “All close contacts have been notified. Due to staffing concerns regarding several cases this week, Franklin Elementary will return to full distant learning. PRE K program will remain on campus.”

“The affected persons have been instructed to remain home in self-isolation for 10 calendar days and have been provided with additional instructions to follow prior to returning to school and work,” officials wrote in the email. “Family members have also been instructed to self-quarantine (this is 14 days from exposure) and get tested.

“Anyone who is considered a ‘close contact’ will be contacted by our school nurses and staff. They will provide instructions on the appropriate steps to take regarding quarantine and when to return to school or work.”
