Sewer Rates Going Up in Stratford

The Water Pollution Control Authority Committee has approved rate increases for sewer customers.

The Water Pollution Control Authority Committee approved rate increases for Stratford sewer customers last Thursday, according to the Stratford Star.

The Star reports that the committee, which is comprised of Town Council members, voted 6-2 to increase the annual rate for customers to $450 per household, an increase of $50, while business customers will see an increase from a rate of $4.67 per unit to $5.25.

The town’s plan to regionalize its sewer operations with the sale of the sewer plant to the Greater New Haven Water Pollution Control Authority is on hold due to a legal challenge from a group of residents and it could eventually go to a town-wide referendum.
