"The male immediately fired his weapon at the responding officers. Two Stratford officers were able to return fire at the subject. The subject was struck and fell to the ground. Neither officer was injured as a result of the shooting. The subject was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition," Popik said in a statement.
The officer-involved shooting investigation is being conducted by the Fairfield Judicial District State’s Attorneys Office and the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit.
Names of all involved individuals are being withheld at this time, Stratford police said. The two Stratford officers have been placed on paid administrative duty, per Stratford Police Department policy, Popik said.
"The preliminary investigation reveals that this was an isolated incident, and there is no imminent threat or danger to the public related to this matter," Popik said in his statement.
