St. Mark School in Stratford recently received a grant from Foundations in Education for $4,102 to purchase Lego Spike Educational Kits, a project that integrates science, technology, engineering and mathematics to help students build and code robots.
Grant funding was awarded to St. Mark School Innovation Teachers, Sarah Carrano and Alexander Kennedy. Both teachers are among a cohort of diocesan-wide awardees that will be trained this summer on Lego Spike Education.
Carrano and Kennedy were honored on February 1 at a grant awards reception held at Sacred Heart University’s Discovery Science Center and Planetarium, hosted by Foundations in Education and the Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano.

“To have the encouragement and support from the foundation that says, ‘we believe in you, and we understand what you do is important’, is edifying for teachers and students alike,” commented Carrano.
“The kits will provide students with an engaging, hands-on experience to explore things such as coding, engineering, design, and problem solving,” shared Kennedy.
