The student was honored by the Board of Education for his efforts in assisting a competitor who was apparently having a medical emergency.

STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford High School student was honored by the Board of Education this week for his heroic efforts when he ran to the aid of a competitor on another team during the recent South-West Conference Cross Country Championships.
NBC Connecticut reports Ryan Duffy, a senior co-captain, was running in the top third of the field and was in a position to have the best time on the team when he saw a runner from another school face down on the ground. Duffy ran back to the start of the race to wave down help for the other runner.
The other student was found to have had a severe case of dehydration, according to NBC Connecticut.
