STRATFORD, CT — Behind every standout student-athlete is a story worth sharing. Through Patch’s Local Athlete of the Week, we’re highlighting young people who are excelling in sports while also showing up for their communities.
This submission comes from Coach Barb Poisson and Coach Moe Scioletti, who nominated Jenna, a student-athlete from Bunnell High School in Stratford.

How has the athlete excelled in their sport?
Jenna can always be seen with her teammates, demonstrating the many drills it takes to be successful. She has idolized many of the Senior athletes on our team, which transitions to now her fellow underclassmen looking to Jenna for advice and assistance.
Jenna carries the moxie of an athlete who's been there before and looks forward to improvements. Her foresight is endless.
Jenna has qualified for our SWC and State championship meets. This season has been witness to her hard work, where she now has established numerous personal bests in her individual events. One of the most interesting aspects of Jenna is her attention to detail, most notably in the classroom.
A rare act by a student in this day and age is the habit of Jenna showing her coaches her grades each Friday. She truly understands the relationship of hard work in sport and its connection to the classroom. Projections for Jenna show her on track for a highly successful four years here at Bunnell.

Jenna is a perfectionist. She has the traits to be a champion athlete.
What’s one thing you want everyone to know about this person?
Both Jenna and her grandmother are devoted to each other to who she resides.
