Stratford Beats Rival Bunnell In Basketball Showdown
The Stratford boys' basketball team defeated cross-town rival Bunnell in an exciting contest on Friday night.
STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford High School boys’ basketball team defeated cross-town rival Bunnell 59-47 Friday night at Bunnell.
The always intense and exciting rivalry game was made even more exciting this time as fans were welcomed back into the gym at 50 percent capacity.
The game was tight from the start, and Bunnell held a 26-25 lead at halftime. The Red Devils came roaring out of the break and went on a 15-4 run in the third quarter to take the lead and never looked back.

Brady Knorr led the Red Devils (9-3) with 24 points, while Jayquan Kirkland had 14 and Mike Olivencia added 10.
Jordan Pierce and Michael Ricketts led the Bulldogs (3-8) with 13 points and 11 points, respectively.

Stratford 62, Newtown 58: The Red Devils improved to 10-3 with a 62-58 victory over Newtown on Monday night.
Stratford jumped out to a quick lead and was ahead 21-12 after the first quarter and 36-29 at halftime. The Nighthawks chipped away and tied the game up in the fourth quarter.
Stratford’s Jayquan Kirkland grabbed a clutch offensive rebound and was fouled with 11 seconds remaining. He converted both free throws to put the Red Devils ahead by four and seal the game.
Kirkland was outstanding with 31 points, while Ben Petrie added 10 for Stratford.
Newtown was led by Tyson Mobley with 19 and Liam O’Connell with 13 points.
Stratford travels to New Fairfield on Thursday for another SWC match up.
