Stratford Board of Education Gives Center School Control to Town

The board decided to put the future of the former school in the town government's hands.

The Board of Education voted Tuesday to return control of Center School to the town government, placing its future in their hands, the Stratford Star reported.

The former public school is being eyed to become part of a transit-related development, according to the Stratford Star. The town reportedly already owned the school, however, and now they also control what will become of it.

The building is mainly used to house students serving in-school suspension or receiving special education, as reported by the Stratford Star. Opposing board members felt the district should retain the property in case space for the schools becomes an issue, while some neighbors wanted the school to reopen.
