Stratford Boys Basketball Beats Rival Bunnell
The Red Devils also lost a hard-fought game against Staples this week.

STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford boys’ basketball team beat rival Bunnell 57-41 Thursday night at Stratford High School.
Bunnell held a 21-20 lead at halftime but Stratford began the third quarter with an aggressive full-court press that turned the game around.
Stratford scored 22 points in the third to take a 43-29 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Brady Knorr led Stratford with 14 points, while Mike Olivencia had 13 points and Jayquan Kirkland added 11 points.
Anthony Valerian led Bunnell with nine points.

The Red Devils travel to Monroe Monday to face Masuk in the first SWC league game. The Bulldogs face Joel Barlow Monday at home.
Staples 63, Stratford 60: The Red Devils rallied from an early deficit, but Staples pulled out a 63-60 victory Tuesday night in Westport.
Stratford trailed 17-8 at the end of the first quarter and battled back to tie the game at 41 in the third quarter, but never led.
Stratford's Jayquan Kirkland missed a 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds left on the clock to end the game.
Kirkland led the Red Devils with 21 points, while Brady Knorr and Mike Olivencia scored 14 points apiece, and Jzhaun Davis had 10.
Ryan Phelps led Staples with 16 points, while Derek Sale had 15 points and Caleb Tobias added 12.
