STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford High School boys’ basketball team continued its strong season with an impressive 86–34 victory over Pomperaug, improving its record to 9–3.

Riley Olphonce led all scorers with 13 points and added eight rebounds, while Brayan Fernandez chipped in 12 points and Jariel Reina de Jesus contributed 11 points.

The Red Devil Wrestling team rose to the challenge at the Ridgefield Challenge this past Saturday, facing their toughest competition of the season.

The team recorded its highest number of place-winners this year, with five wrestlers earning podium finishes — a strong showing in a highly competitive field.

Indoor track highlights

The Stratford High School indoor track team closed out the regular season with a bang. On Jan. 16, Zackary O'Toole broke the school record in the 3200m at Hillhouse while winning first place at the SCC Coaches Invitational. He topped the school's record by over 30 seconds.

A week later, almost all team members competing saw their best performances as the curtain closed on the 2026 regular season. The team was split between competing Friday night in New Haven and Saturday in Bethel.

Highlights from New Haven include Jaykell Hernandez qualifying for states in the 300m and Dyllan Asuncion breaking his own record in the 1000m.

Highlights from Bethel include Keeson Alonso qualifying for SWC's in the 1000m and Serginia Domond qualifying for SWC's in the 55m. In total, 17 student athletes qualified for the postseason championships.
