Stratford, Bunnell Both Fall In CIAC Boys Basketball Championship Games

The Stratford and Bunnell boys basketball teams both saw their impressive seasons come to an end with losses in the CIAC championship games.

STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford and Bunnell boys basketball teams both had their impressive runs through the CIAC tournament come to an end with championship losses Sunday at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Fourth-seeded Stratford fell to No. 3 Sport and Medical Sciences Academy 71-54 in the Division III championship game on Sunday afternoon. SMSA claimed its first state title with the win.

Myles Bertrand scored a game-high 26 points for the Red Devils, while Tylor Bonaventura had 15 points and 10 rebounds, according to GameTimeCT.

Seventh-seeded Bunnell saw its quest for a third straight CIAC championship come to an end with a 78-52 loss to top-seeded Windsor in the Division II title game on Sunday night.

Brody Biggs led the Bulldogs with 15 points, while Rickie Miller added 10 points, and Rody Ricketts Jr. had eight, according to GameTimeCT.
