An official media release from the Stratford Brakettes reads as follows :

“In memory of longtime Brakettes General Manager and Stratford High School Athletic Director, Bob Baird, the Brakettes are excited to provide the live video webcast for the 2023 Stratford-Bunnell Thanksgiving Day Football Game at brakettes.com. This a fitting way to continue to honor ‘Big Bob’, as he greatly treasured the Town of Stratford and the Thanksgiving Rivalry”, said Baird’s oldest son, Rob, who has taken over as GM.

Bob Baird passed away December 31st, 2022 at the age of 75, after leading the Brakettes for 35 years.

As a way of giving back to the Town of Stratford, for 77 years of support, the Brakettes have provided live webcasts of high school sports events, most notably the Stratford Red Devils Softball team, and continue to expand the many venues being brought before them.

Bunnell is entering the game with 6 wins and 3 losses. There are playoff implications on the line for the Bulldogs as a win against Stratford can give them a chance at a CIAC (Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference) playoff game. But they will need help.

For Bunnell to clinch the 8th spot Chesire would have to lose to Southington. The Cheshire / Southington game is being played on Thursday morning November 23rd, 10:00 am, at Southington High School.

For Bunnell to clinch the 7th spot Guilford would have to lose to Hand and Chesire would have to lose as well. The Guilford / Hand game is being played on Wednesday November 22nd, 7:00 pm at Madison’s Surf Club-Strong Field.

Stratford’s record stands at 1-8. A victory for Stratford will deny Bunnell a CIAC playoff game.

Also at stake is the Manning Harvey Award given to the winner who is declared the Town of Stratford - High School Football Champions. Manning Harvey was an educator and legendary coach with the Stratford Board of Education for many years.

In head to head games against each other throughout the years Bunnell leads the rivalry with 42 wins against 22 losses.

For those attending the game , digital tickets should be purchased in advance online at GoFan.co Type in the search bar Bunnell or Stratford.
