Stratford Caregiver Stunned to Win $5,000 Company Award

Assisted Living Services Presents Platinum Caregiver Honor for August

Personal Care Assistant Robin Soule of Stratford was in the middle of her workday caring for her client when she got the shock of her life. Soule’s employer, Assisted Living Services, Inc. (ALS), came to present her with the homecare agency’s $5,000 Platinum Caregiver Award for the month of August. Soule stood there speechless then was moved to tears by the honor.

“We keep the winner a secret each month so that we can make a grand presentation with a giant check,” said Mario D’Aquila, MBA and Chief Operating Officer of ALS in Cheshire. “We coordinate with the family who nominated our caregiver so that they can be a part of the surprise.” D’Aquila and ALS Fairfield Branch Director Sharon Corriveau presented the award.

Soule was chosen for the award based on the nomination from client Joe DeMichael and his wife Nancy that stated, “Robin Soule is a true Godsend”. The couple celebrated with Soule when she was presented with the company’s most prestigious distinction at their home on October 31, 2019.

D’Aquila notes that all ALS Personal Care Assistants, such as Soule, have received training in a Certified Home Health Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant Program, as well as have obtained State Personal Care Assistant training. Although ALS services are considered non-medical, the agency finds that caregivers who are trained in home health care make the ALS team “top-notch” above the rest. The supportive care services that each caregiver provides focuses on the individual’s unique needs for personal health, safety and well-being in the home setting.

Soule has been an employee of Assisted Living Services, Inc. since July 2018 and has cared for Mr. DeMichael for the past 10 months. In addition to a check for $5,000, the monthly Platinum Caregiver Award includes a beautiful crystal statue and a certificate of merit.
