Stratford Community Fund Honors Outstanding Community Members

The Lighthouse Award was presented to recipients whose efforts help build a strong community.

STRATFORD, CT – Nov. 7, 2019 – The Stratford Community Fund, a local, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, dedicated to enriching the quality of life for residents of the greater Stratford, Connecticut community, announced the three individuals, one business, and one organization as the recipients of the 2019 Lighthouse Award for outstanding contributions to the Stratford Community.

“An important part of the Stratford Community Fund’s mission is to recognize and honor community groups, businesses, and outstanding members of our community who have given generously of their time and talent for the betterment of our Town. The Lighthouse Award was initiated by the Stratford Community Fund in 2007 as a means of acknowledging the important contributions of these individuals and groups. We believe that celebrating our successes provides inspiration to others and ultimately results in making our community stronger and motivates others to be involved in community service,” said Chuck Lindberg, president of the Stratford Community Fund.

  • Susan and Reid Sansone for volunteering at the Stratford Animal Shelter as S.T.A.R.S. (Stratford Animal Rescue Society) for almost 8 years.
  • Michelle Genuario and Aubrey Booska for their work to involve and inspire Stratford youth to be involved in community art and giving back throughout their careers.
  • George Grom for his years of volunteer service to the community.
  • C.A.R.E (Citizens Addressing Racial Equity) for its mission to make the Stratford community strong, united, and vibrant by ensuring racial equity and promoting cultural competence.
  • The Mellow Monkey owner Howard Aspinwall and his volunteer works support civic and community organizations as well as independent small businesses in Stratford and in surrounding towns.
  • Fran Carson received a special recognition for his work with the Stratford Community Fund, especially in overseeing its finances.
