The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

Maintaining a positive and effective form of government here in Stratford under the Hoydick administration. As I speak with residents in District 2 both new and existing, I ask the same two questions – what brought you to Stratford and why do continue to call Stratford home? Safety, home values, tax rate, town services and the Stratford community at large are why people to move and stay in our town. It is so uplifting to hear new residents’ comment on the quality of life in Stratford. I will work tirelessly for all Stratford resident to maintain the security and the community pride and spirit here in our town.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

During my term on council (2017-2019) I voted for two budgets that reduced taxes. The current council member voted against a tax mill rate reduction for two consecutive years. She voted no and never presented an alternative plan which tells everyone she is not really representing the taxpayers.

I am not a candidate that only surfaces a few months before an election; my commitment to our Town and District is 24/7/365, nothing less. I understand when you make a commitment, it is a full-time commitment to the voters who have placed their trust in you.

I was and will always be a volunteer for our town. I roll up my sleeves and work toward seeking a solution to a problem with respect and dignity. I see no positive in being a person who beats a drum and points a finger of blame. As I have proven during my tenure as council member, I am an unbiased representative to the people of District 2. I do not rank your level of importance by your political party, profession, or union affiliation.

I strive to do my part in providing a quality of life that we all want right here in our own backyard.

Accomplishments:

For starters, the accomplishments I am most proud are the following:

  1. Creating an open and respectful relationship with the Hoydick administration and all Department heads during my 2017-2019 term and an environment for positive change in District 2 from day one.
  1. After touring the Baldwin Center in 2017 with Mayor Hoydick, then Assistant Deputy Director of Public Raynae Serra and CFO Chris Tymniak I advocated for capital improvement funding for renovations of the senior center. In September 2021 I was proud to be there for the ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Baldwin Center. It is a beautiful facility for our seniors!
  1. In 2017, I met with several pond remediation companies seeking advice and solutions to the poor water quality at Brewster/Longbrook pond. I presented my concern and quotes to Mayor Hoydick and staff which resulted in the implementation of a water treatment program. I must say the water was the cleanest I have ever seen. I thank all the countless volunteers that helped implement this program and helped town public workers maintain this gem.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

My grandparents settled at Homestead Ave in the early 1950’s to raise my father Charles and uncle David; they saw the magic in this community. My fondest memories were of my grandfather when he shared stories of his first cousin, Brakettes Softball Hall of Famer Birtha Tickey. I could not have been prouder when my wife, Robin and I purchased our own family homestead to raise our children; we continue see the same magic in Stratford.
