Stratford Family Sues Snapchat, Instagram Over Teen’s Sexual Assaults: Report

The lawsuit claims the victim was sexually assaulted by men she met through social media in separate incidents, the Connecticut Post reports

STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford family is suing the parent companies of Instagram and Snapchat in connection with the sexual assaults of their 15-year-old daughter by two separate convicted sex offenders, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports the family is seeking unspecified damages from Meta Platforms Inc. and Snap Inc., along with the two sex offenders, including one who is a former New Haven police officer.

The lawsuit claims the companies bear responsibility for the abuse because the victim was contacted through the social media platforms, according to the Post.
