Stratford Firefighter Dies
The Stratford Fire Department and community is mourning the death of Lt. Thomas McCabe.

The following statement has been posted on the Facebook page of the Stratford firefighter's union:
Lieutenant Tom McCabe was a 24 year decorated veteran of the Stratford Fire Department, served as Treasurer for the Firefighters Benevolent Association, and was also the department historian. Lt McCabe was 54 years old and leaves behind a wife and three children. The loss of Lt McCabe will surely have a lasting impact on the members of the Stratford Fire Department and his local community. RIP Lt McCabe. We miss you brother and you will not be forgotten!

A Stratford firefighter has died.
Lt. Thomas McCabe was in his late 40s/early 50s, said Bill Hansen, president of the Stratford firefighter's union.
The following was posted on the union's Facebook page shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday:
IAFF Local 998 regrets to announce the passing of Lieutenant Tom McCabe. As soon as details for the services are available we will pass them along to you.
Hansen said McCabe was an active member of the department and he did not die while on duty.
