Stratford Gold Dealer Accused of Buying and Reselling Stolen Jewelry

The woman allegedly fenced thousands of items taken from burglaries in Monroe, Trumbull, Fairfield and Orange.

A Stratford gold dealer is accused of buying and reselling jewelry stolen in a burglary spree by a Shelton man in 2015, the CT Post reports. Tanya Abdur-Raheem, 56, owner of Tanya’s Fine Jewelry has allegedly been fencing thousands of dollars in stolen items taken from burglaries in Monroe, Trumbull, Fairfield and Orange.

Abdur-Raheem is facing forgery and identity theft charges. She is also facing charges for violating the state’s regulations on the sale of precious metals.

Police said they found texts on Abdur-Raheem’s phone from Kevin Lesko, of Shelton, the man who allegedly went on the burglary spree, offering to sell her items he took in the burglary. Additionally, police say they found items stolen from a Monroe home in Abdur-Raheem’s home.
