Eligible nominees include physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, EMTs, paramedics, pharmacists, dentists, psychologists, therapists, social workers, public health professionals, healthcare administrators, and other allied healthcare professionals under the age of 40.

According to GBMA, the awards were established to shine a spotlight on emerging healthcare leaders whose contributions often go unrecognized despite the significant impact they have on patients, families, and communities.

Healthcare professionals today face increasing demands and challenges, requiring not only clinical expertise but also resilience, innovation, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. The Future of Healthcare Awards seek to celebrate those who exemplify these qualities early in their careers.

The initiative builds upon GBMA's longstanding tradition of recognizing excellence in healthcare. Over the years, the organization has honored physicians, nurses, hospital leaders, women in medicine, public health professionals, and community healthcare advocates throughout the Greater Bridgeport region.

Healthcare professionals who live or work in Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Shelton, Stratford, or Trumbull are eligible for nomination.

Award recipients will be recognized during a special ceremony on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield.

Nominations must be submitted by Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Community members, healthcare organizations, employers, colleagues, friends, family members, and patients are encouraged to nominate deserving healthcare professionals who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
