Stratford Ice Cream Shop Temporarily Closed After 'Devastating' Fire
The Stratford Fire Department responded to the blaze at Micalizzi's Italian Ice shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, officials said.
STRATFORD, CT — Micalizzi's Italian Ice in Stratford has closed indefinitely after a fire devastated the building early Saturday morning, according to the business and authorities.
The Stratford Fire Department responded to the blaze at 3600 Main St. shortly before 3 a.m., officials said on social media. More than 20 firefighters were called to extinguish the flames, which spread from the front of the building to the roof, officials said.
No injuries were reported, according to the fire department.

Micalizzi's staff confirmed the closure in a Facebook post and said they were unsure when the shop would reopen.
"We are deeply saddened to announce Micalizzi Stratford is temporarily closed due to a devastating fire this morning. ... We thank the local fire departments for their service," staff wrote. "We appreciate our loyal customers and hope to serve all of you again soon."

The Stratford Fire Marshal's office is investigating the fire's cause.
