Stratford Launches New Initiative For Support In Opioid Crisis
The long-term campaign is designed to help people & families affected by overdoses and the pervasive opioid crisis, Mayor Hoydick announced.

STRATFORD, CT — (From Town of Stratford): Mayor Laura R. Hoydick announced Thursday, on International Overdose Awareness Day 2023, a new town-wide initiative to highlight town and regional partner resources, educational opportunities, and support systems that are in place to help individuals and families affected by overdoses and the pervasive opioid crisis.
“Stratford’s community resources, along with non-profit partners in our region, are invaluable to aiding those affected by the ongoing crisis,” Hoydick said. “As we acknowledge International Overdose Awareness Day, we are kicking off a long-term campaign to ensure our community knows resources exist and it is okay to need help -- whether it be assistance in preventing overdose deaths or supporting families and individuals wherever they may be on this incredibly challenging journey. It is our goal to end the stigma by encouraging open dialogue and unbiased support.
“This crisis does not discriminate, and our hope is to promote and welcome all those who are in need of direction or support. I encourage you to take advantage of the many resources our town departments provide, in addition to our community partners.”

Town departments are currently working on a section of the town website that will be a dedicated source for all educational opportunities, community and health services, and local and regional partners. The section will launch later this fall within the long-term campaign to encourage more openness and connection.
“This initiative will continue to evolve over time as we navigate something that has affected our entire community on so many deeply personal levels,” Hoydick said.
