Stratford Library Honors Teen Volunteers
Local teens gave over 4200 hours of service in the last year

The Stratford Library Teen Services Departments recently celebrated the volunteer efforts of nearly 100 local teenagers for providing over 4200 hours of volunteer service over the past year to the to the Library’s Teen, Adult and Children’s Departments. In a special ceremony, Head of Teen Services Lucretia Duwel welcomed library board members, educators, family and friends and applauded all the volunteers for their service to the library during 2013-14. The Teen Volunteer Program was established at the library 28 years ago and has afforded hundreds of teens the opportunity to volunteer in their community.
This year, 16 teens received Presidential Awards, an award to recognize community service established by President H. W. Bush in the 1990s, for their hours of service to the Stratford Library from September 2013 through August 2014. The Gold Award went to Zane Carey and the Silver Award was presented to Robert Sebas. Bronze Awards were given to: Thelma Ogazi, Anderson Ogazi, William Rooney, Ben Canevari, Michelle Lin, Tim Breiner, Joseph Pellegrino, Caitlin Wardlow, Shannon Meisel, Nicholas Pushefki, Anna Argulain, Gabriel Williams, Alexis Trovarelli.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were: Barbara Blosveren/Library Director, Doreen Jaekle/Library Board President, Arlene Gottesman/Interim Assistant Superintendent of Schools and Jim Connor/Town Councilman and Meg Bachtel/Library Board.
