Stratford Man Arrested At Scene Of House Fire In Harwinton: State PD
Several pets were rescued, and a firefighter was injured after a fire that destroyed a home in Harwinton, according to officials.
STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man is accused of trespassing and interfering with police who were investigating a fire that destroyed a home in Harwinton on Wednesday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.
Firefighters responded to the 100 block of Wildcat Hill Road in Harwinton around 8 a.m. on April 25 on the report of a house fire.
The house was heavily damaged in the fire and was deemed to be uninhabitable, according to a post on the Harwinton Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page.

Officials said several pets were rescued from the fire. A firefighter suffered an ankle injury and was taken to the hospital, according to officials.
Police said Ronald Nelson, 25, of Stratford, trespassed and interfered with troopers at the scene while they were conducting the investigation.

Nelson was charged with two counts of interfering with an officer and one count of second-degree criminal trespass. He was being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond with a court date of May 16, according to state judicial records.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Harwinton Fire Marshall with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, according to police.
