Stratford Man Charged with Arson, Threatening Police
Stratford Police say the man intentionally set two fires in town and is accused of threatening officers during the booking process.

Stratford, CT — A 51-year-old Stratford resident is accused of intentionally setting two fires in town and threatening officers during the booking process after he was arrested.
Stratford Police arrested Michael Sherwood on arson and assorted charges on Thursday related to two suspicious fires at 30 Riverview Place.
During the investigation, it was determined that Sherwood had started the fires at the residence because the previous residents were required to move out when the new property owners took possession, according to Lt. Frank Eannotti.

Eannotti said that Sherwood threatened officers during the interview and booking process.

Sherwood was arrested on two counts of third-degree arson, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief and one count each of first-degree threatening and refusal to be fingerprinted.
Sherwood is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Court on July 18.
