Stratford Man Sentenced For Crash That Killed Young Mother: Report
A 31-year-old woman was struck by a car while crossing the street in Stratford and later died at the hospital.

STRATFORD, CT — A Superior Court judge sentenced Jerry Goncalves, 27, of Stratford, to seven months in prison in connection to the death of a young Bridgeport mother who was struck while crossing the street in Stratford last February, according to the Connecticut Post.
Daniel Tepfer of the Post reports that while handing down the sentence, which includes three years’ probation, Judge Kevin Doyle said he didn’t believe Goncalves was a killer and it was an accident.
Sandra Vilsaint, the mother of a 5-year-old son, was struck by a car driven by Goncalves and later died at the hospital. She was 31. Witnesses told police that Goncalves had sped through a red light before striking Vilsaint, according to the Post.
