Stratford Man Shoots Gun While Drunk: Police

The man is accused of firing several rounds into the ground in his yard.

A Stratford man faces several charges after police say he fired several rounds into the ground in his yard while he was drunk.

Justin McCabe, 31, of 135 Lincoln Street, was arrested Aug. 21 at his home by patrol officers who were responding to a report of shots fired.

McCabe was reportedly intoxicated when he fired several rounds into the ground in the back yard of his residence, according to Lt. Frank Eannotti.

Eannotti said McCabe initially lied to officers about his involvement but investigation and statements by witnesses helped prove otherwise.

McCabe was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

A total of three handguns were seized as evidence, according to Eannotti.

McCabe was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated, interfering with an officer, second-degree breach of peace and reckless endangerment.

McCabe was held on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 31.
