Stratford Man Tried To Buy $70K Corvette With Forged Docs: Police
The Stratford man was taken into custody at the car dealership, police said.

STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man is accused of trying to buy a $70,000 car using forged documents, according to police.
Tavon Moyer, 38, of the 300 block of West Avenue, was arrested Sept. 10 and charged with identity theft, forgery and attempted first-degree larceny, according to a news release from the Plymouth Police Department.
Police were informed that a man was using documents that appeared to be forged in an attempt to buy a Corvette valued at $70,000 from Terryville Chevrolet, the news release said. Officers determined the victim was a Delaware resident whose name and other information was being used to purchase the car, according to the news release.

Moyer was taken into custody at the dealership, the news release said. He remains in custody on $10,000 bond, according to court records. His next court date is Jan. 13.
Also apprehended in connection with the incident was Akil Jones, 38, of the 200 block of Dover Street in Bridgeport, police said. Jones is charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, according to the news release. He has been released from custody on $25,000 bond and is due in court Jan. 15, court records said.
