Stratford To Receive $224K From Renters’ Rebate Assistance Program
The funding will support more than 400 Stratford seniors and individuals with disabilities, state legislators announced.
STRATFORD, CT — More than $224,000 is being distributed this week to Stratford residents who applied for the Connecticut Renters' Rebate Program, State Representatives Joe Gresko and Phil Young announced Friday.
The $224,508 in funding was secured through measures passed by the Connecticut General Assembly during the 2022 legislative session, according to a news release.
"Our community's seniors and individuals with disabilities are among the most vulnerable renters, and I'm proud to report that the Renters' Rebate Assistance Program is going to support 403 Stratford residents in maintaining safe, affordable, and independent housing," Gresko said.

Young said, “I am thrilled that so many Stratford residents were able to benefit from this program. The rising cost of housing is impacting everyone, so programs like this ensure it remains affordable for our seniors and individuals with disabilities.”
Established in 1974, the program provides reimbursement for Connecticut renters who are elderly or have certain disabilities, and whose incomes do not exceed certain limits. Rebates can be up to $900 for married couples and $700 for an individual. According to Governor Ned Lamont's office, the average applicant will receive a rebate of $540 from this recent disbursement.
