Stratford Resident Receives All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference Honors

Andrew Scully, a senior on the Albertus Magnus College baseball team, was selected to the All-GNAC First Team this week.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford’s Andrew Scully, a senior on the Albertus Magnus College baseball team, earned All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honors, league officials announced this week.

Scully received first-team distinction for the first time in his career thanks to a league-high 10 home runs to go along with a team-high .385 batting average. He finished out his senior year leading the team in RBIs (22), runs scored (30), hits (37) and doubles (8). (To sign up for Stratford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The three-time GNAC Player of the Week finished with a .512 on-base percentage as well as collected seven stolen bases and 19 extra-base hits.

Scully also made four appearances on the mound for the Falcons and recorded seven strikeouts over five innings. Toward the end of the season, Scully became the 15th player in program history to collect 100 career hits.

The Albertus Magnus College baseball team finished the 2017 season with a 10-21-1 overall record and earned the No. 6 seed in the GNAC Tournament thanks to posting a 5-9 mark in conference contests. The Falcons saw their season to come to an end with a setback against third-seeded Lasell College in the opening round of the league tournament.
