Stratford’s Season Ends With Loss To Stamford In State Tournament
Jayquan Kirkland and Brady Knorr earned First Team All-South West Conference honors for the Red Devils this season.
STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford boys basketball team’s season came to an end with a 65-62 loss to Stamford in the first round of the CIAC Division II state tournament on Monday night.
Jayquan Kirkland scored 23 points to lead the Red Devils, while Jzhaun Davis had 14 points and Mike Olivencia added 11. Brady Knorr went down with an ankle injury in the first quarter after scoring four points.
Kirkland and Knorr were named First Team All-Conference for the South West Conference.

Among the highlights of a memorable season for Stratford were finishing the regular season with a 15-5 record and first in the Colonial Division. The Red Devils entered the SWC Tournament as a No. 3 seed behind two top 10 teams (Kolbe Cathedral and Notre Dame-Fairfield). Stratford drew the No. 10 seed in CIAC Division II state tournament.
Kirkland also recorded his 1,000th career point during the season and signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Southern Connecticut State University on a football scholarship.
