Stratford School Calendar 2019-20: First Day Of School, Vacations

STRATFORD, CT — The first day of school in Stratford is Aug. 29 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP.

Stratford Public Schools has released its calendar for the 2019-20 school year. The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

AUGUST

• Aug. 26 and 28: Professional development

• Aug. 27: Teachers convocation

• Aug. 29: First day of school

SEPTEMBER

• Sept. 2: Labor Day, no school

• Sept. 24: Professional learning community day, early dismissal

• Sept. 30: Rosh Hashanah, no school

OCTOBER

• Oct. 9: Yom Kippur, no school

• Oct. 30: Professional learning community day, early dismissal

NOVEMBER

• Nov. 5: Election Day, no school

• Nov. 13: Conferences, high school, early dismissal

• Nov. 14: Conferences, middle school, early dismissal

• Nov. 19 and 21: Conferences, elementary school, early dismissal

• Nov. 27: Early dismissal

• Nov. 28 and 29: Thanksgiving holiday, no school

DECEMBER

Dec. 20: Early dismissal

• Dec. 23 to 31: Winter break, no school

JANUARY

• Jan. 1: New Year's Day, no school

• Jan. 14: Professional learning community day, early dismissal

• Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school

FEBRUARY

• Feb. 6: Conferences, elementary school, early dismissal

• Feb. 14 and 17: Presidents weekend, no school

MARCH

• March 11: Professional learning community day, early dismissal

APRIL

• April 10: Good Friday, no school

• April 13 to 17: Spring break, no school

MAY

• May 7: Professional learning community day, early dismissal

• May 21: Professional learning community day, early dismissal

• May 25: Memorial Day, no school

JUNE

• June 11: Tentative last day of school

All school cancellation days will be added to the end of the school year through the month of June. Should they exceed the number of days available, additional days will be deducted from the April recess, beginning with Monday, April 13.
