Stratford School Principal Moving To Milford

MILFORD, CT — The Milford Public School district announced the appointment of Bryan Darcy as the new principal at Jonathan Law High School.

Darcy comes to Milford from the Stratford Public Schools where he has served in leadership roles since 2013, most recently as the principal of Wooster Middle School, and prior to that as the Assistant Principal of Bunnell High School.

He will take the helm at Law to fill the vacancy left by Fran Thompson who recently was named Assistant Superintendent of Personnel in the Wallingford Public School district. Darcy is expected to begin his new assignment by the end of September.

Darcy has been a professional educator for 16 years in Connecticut, and has served in roles throughout the hierarchy of education: starting as a substitute teacher in North Haven with an educational career leading him to serve in the roles of teacher, department chair, athletic director, assistant principal, and principal.

Darcy began his career as a substitute teacher in 2005 with the North Haven Public School system, where he also served as the varsity assistant baseball coach at North Haven High School. In 2006, Darcy was hired in his first full time professional role as a business teacher at Bethel High School (Bethel Public Schools) where he promoted a positive learning environment and directed high levels of student achievement. He was nominated as the district’s ‘Rookie of the Year’ for his interaction with students and staff, alike.

After spending two years in Bethel, Darcy moved to the Wolcott Public School district in 2008, where he taught business at Wolcott High School and served as the department chair in Business for the district. In 2012, Darcy also was named the Athletic Director in Wolcott, a role he served through 2013. While there, he facilitated the entire high school athletics program, where he
created, evaluated, and adjusted the athletic budget for the entire district.

In 2013, Darcy began his work as an educational administrator, serving as Assistant Principal at Bunnell High School where he worked closely with all stakeholders to develop curriculum and evaluation systems in the district. He was a member of the juvenile review board and worked to develop the Capstone system - an evolutionary system of work and performance in public high school systems across the country.

In 2015, Darcy was promoted to the role of principal of Wooster Middle School where he was responsible for all aspects of operational and academic activity; a role in which he has continued to serve for the past 6 years. In 2019-20, Wooster Middle School was named as the CAS School of the Year while under Darcy’s leadership.

Darcy is a graduate of the University of New Haven, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management in 2004. He continued his education at UNH, receiving his Masters of Science degree in Business Education in 2005. As he continued to pursue his professional educational degrees, he earned his 6th Year (092) certification from Southern Connecticut State University in 2010
and his Superintendency certification (093) from Sacred Heart in 2020.

Darcy said he believes a successful leader in any school district is the ability to communicate with the many groups involved in a school community.
