Stratford Shines At Class L Indoor Track Championship: Stratford High School Sports Roundup
Stratford High School dance team wins SWC Championship, cheer team captures first place at Gael Showdown Competition and more.

STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford High School indoor track team saw many standout performances at the CIAC Class L state meet last week at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
The boys 4x200m relay team of Jaykell Hernandez, Patrick Booska, Mekhell Bell, and Hoshea Lherisson qualified 18th and ran their way to a seventh-place finish. In doing so, they broke the school record in the event dating back to 2008.

Dyllan Asuncion finished third in the boys 1000m, breaking his own school record. Zackary O'Toole finished fifth in the boys 3200m with a time of 9:39.96, breaking the school record he set back in January.
Kyra Mclean finished second in the girls 55m dash in a super fast field. Dyllan, Zackary, and Kyra will be competing with the best in Connecticut at the CIAC State Open championships on Saturday, Feb. 21.

The Stratford High School Cheer Team captured first place at the Gael Showdown Competition in Shelton, showcasing incredible energy, precision, and school spirit.
Not to be outdone, the Dance Team brought home the SWC Championship in Hip Hop for the second straight year; an amazing back-to-back accomplishment. Congratulations to our Lady Red Devils for continuing to raise the bar!
On the hardwood, the boys basketball team earned hard-fought victories over Bethel, Joel Barlow and cross-town rival Bunnell, improving their record to 16–3 on the season. The team will host a game in the first round of both the league and state tournaments.
In wrestling, Stratford had four athletes place at the SWC Championship on Saturday, Feb. 14. Cole Mesto earned third place, while Ras'Shiloh South, Evan Wendland, and Leah Negron each battled their way to fourth-place finishes. Outstanding effort on the mat!
