Stratford Spa’s Accreditation Revoked With BBB

STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford spa recently had its accreditation in the Better Business Bureau revoked by the BBB’s Board of Directors over a failure to schedule appointments with prepaid customers.

WTNH News 8 reports that since May 2018, Danielle Marie Day Spa received 10 complaints after prepaid customers claimed they were not able to schedule appointments. Several of the customers purchased packages of treatments from Groupon and said they repeatedly called, texted and left voicemails to schedule appointments but rarely heard back from the spa, according to WTNH.

The spa’s accreditation in the BBB was revoked on Sept. 21 due to its failure to adhere to the BBB requirement that Accredited Businesses meet and abide by the following standards, via the BBB website:

“6B. Make a good faith effort to resolve disputes, which includes mediation if requested by BBB. Other dispute resolution options, including arbitration, may be recommended by BBB when other efforts to resolve a dispute have failed. BBB may consider a business' willingness to participate in recommended dispute resolution options in determining compliance with these standards.”

On Sept. 25, BBB Serving Connecticut wrote to the spa’s owner regarding several complaints in which consumers reported “inability to schedule service or received refunds for services not rendered. Additionally, those that were able to schedule appointments then had them cancelled by the business who then failed to reschedule.” The BBB did not receive a response, according to the website.

The BBB found on Sept. 13 that Danielle Marie Day Spa was now doing business as Viva La Medical Spa, but considered both to be the same business and all complaints and reviews were reported within the same profile.
