Stratford Student Seeks Trained Diabetic Alert Dog

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help the student - recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes - buy the dog, which can cost $20,000.

STRATFORD, CT — A Bunnell High School student recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes is asking for help with getting a trained diabetic alert dog.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Tyler Stanziale purchase the dog, which can cost up to $20,000.

“Testing my sugars and keeping control over them have been very hard for me to do,” Stanziale wrote on the GoFundMe page. “I can't get enough blood for finger sticks and the sensor my insurance approved to replace regular testing keeps falling off of my arms, despite every attempt that my grandfather and I have tried. This is why I'm asking for help to obtain a diabetic alert dog. Please if you can help me it would be wonderful. Thank you so much.”
