The truth is now out there.
When senior Chynna Sherrod wasn’t at Stratford High School in November, she told people that she was going on a mission to Africa, according to FOX 61.
But now, everyone knows she was actually in Hollywood, competing on the 15th and final season of American Idol.
Sherrod, 17, auditioned for the show in August and impressed judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Connecticut’s Harry Connick Jr. (she even joined in some banter with Connick about “representing” from Connecticut) with her rendition of Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time” and advanced to Hollywood Week.
Sherrod told FOX 61 that she wasn’t allowed to say much about her whirlwind Hollywood Week but said, “It went great. Let’s just say that. It went really great.”
Sherrod is looking to follow in the footsteps of Nick Fradiani, of Guilford, who won last year’s American Idol title.
Find out if she advances to the next round tonight (Thursday, Jan. 28) at 8 p.m. on FOX.
