Stratford Teen, 18, Caught Driving Stolen BMW: Waterbury Police

Two people were arrested in connection with the theft of a BMW, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — An 18-year-old Stratford resident was arrested Monday after police said he was caught driving a stolen BMW in Waterbury.

Officers assigned to the Waterbury Police Department Auto Theft Task Force were conducting an active investigation on May 18 into a stolen vehicle reported out of Avon when they found a 2026 gray BMW X5 M60i in the area of Burr Street, according to Waterbury police.

Police said officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at which point the vehicle tried to flee but was quickly stopped.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Jadyn Dejesus of Stratford, was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Police said the passenger, 21-year-old Stephan Mason of Waterbury, tried to run away but was quickly apprehended by officers.

Dejesus was arrested on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle (first offense), reckless driving, interfering with an officer, second-degree criminal trover, and failure to obey officer signal.

Mason was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle (first offense) and interfering with an officer.
