STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford woman who had been laid off from work since January has plenty of reasons to celebrate after winning the lottery twice in the same day and receiving a job offer in the same week. Stephanie Buzbee was available to lend her boyfriend a helping hand by accompanying him on his bread delivery route last week and the gesture paid off in more ways than one.

At one stop, Buzbee decided to do something out of the ordinary and buy a "$5,000,000 Ultimate" scratch game ticket.

"It was the first time I've ever bought a $30 ticket,” Buzbee told Connecticut Lottery officials. “When I won $100, I was really excited. We even did a little happy dance about it.”

At the next stop, Buzbee cashed in her winning ticket and purchased another of the same.

“This time I just scratched off the barcode area and scanned it in the ticket checker," Buzbee said. "When I saw message on the ticket checker, I thought, 'This can't be right,' but it was. It was a $10,000 winner.

“Last week was a great week. [The prize] is going to pay my bills for the next couple months, and I just got a job offer the same week.”

Buzbee's prize-winning ticket was purchased at City Star Mart at 500 Boston Post Road, Guilford.
