Stratford's Shawn Blake Named to 15th Annual Dream Dozen
Blake is Stratford's first-ever selection to the American Legion Zone II all-star team.

Stratford’s Shawn Blake earned the distinction of being the first Post 42 player ever selected for Elm City Newspapers’ Dream Dozen, a Zone II American Legion baseball all-star team.
Stratford played in Zone IV before moving into Zone II a few years ago and Post 42 had a breakthrough season this past summer, finishing third in the zone behind perennial powers Branford and Orange.
Blake, a first baseman, finished the season with a .311 batting average with 27 hits, including a team-high six triples, and had three home runs and 15 RBIs. Blake also led the team with 22 runs scored and a .500 on-base percentage.

“Having him in the lineup gave us a formidable, three, four, five in the order,” Stratford coach Mike DellaVecchia told Mike Madera of the Milford-Orange Bulletin/GameTimeCT “You could see every time he came to the plate, teams would pitch around him. He meant a lot to the team. He hit the ball like a man. Teams really respected him. They would not let him beat them.”
