June 23 Getting off the Metro North late on Friday night I was confronted by klieg lights and a large hole in the roundabout in front of the Station House Wine Bar and Grill.I am told that this digging project in the roundabout started with the F.U.B.A.’s and the State D.O.T. and was turned over to a professional construction firm that has their headquarters in town.
- they were apparently called in when... darkness came over the horizon and to fix what some how got broken when the F.U.B.A.R.’s and the D. O.T were hard at work.
I did not catch the name of the firm but the folk I saw running around to get things done right were the same people who are working on the steps of the railroad station.
I had chatted with them about the stairs earlier last week and found them to: A. speak English, :B. Know what they were talking about, and C. seem to be generally nice guys.
This could be the scene from a movie: Big hole in ground. Many people looking in hole, some well into their cups as we say in merry old England, no O.S.H.A. in sight, all that was needed was the dancing elephants coming from off stage to complete the show.
If the workers and the patrons close to the hole start to glow green when the lights go off there could be a serious problem.
Note to the staff of the restaurant:
It would be a nice gift to Anthony Fidaleo, the boss, A.K.A. the chief Capo of the restaurant if you all chipped money in and purchased a white European style helmet with gold spear on top, black shirt, long white motorcycle gloves and a large whistle.
I was told, Fidaleo was out directing traffic in front of the restaurant like a Carabinieri in front of the forum in Rome on Friday night and again on Saturday night.
He might as well dress the part.
The professional crew were reportedly still there Saturday morning cleaning and filling and returning the roundabout to it’s normal condition.
Real professionalism.
The F.U.B.A.R.’s and the D.O.T. were back on Monday.
