Two Families Displaced in Stratford Fire

Responding firefighters found a large volume of fire on the second floor and attic of the duplex. No injuries were reported.

STRATFORD, CT — Two families were displaced in a fire on Larkin Court on Thursday afternoon but no injuries were reported, according to fire officials.

Firefighters responded to the scene at the duplex-style home at about 3:30 p.m. and found a large volume of fire on the second floor and attic, according to Deputy Chief, Fire Marshal Brian Lampart.

“Under the command of Assistant Chief Steve Alesevich, fire crews were able to contain the fire to a second-floor bedroom and a limited area of the attic,” Lampart said in a press release. “The Stratford Fire Marshal investigated and found the cause to be electrical at an electrical receptacle located at the foot of the bed spreading to the mattress and other contents within the room.”

No injuries were reported, however, two families are displaced and will have to relocate until repairs can be made.

Both Bridgeport and Milford Fire Departments assisted on scene and with station coverage throughout the incident and the Red Cross also provided assistance on scene to the home owners, according to Lampart.
