Vazzy's Owner Says 'Thank You' to Residents with Restaurant Renovations

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and complimentary buffet was held at Vazzy's Tuesday to celebrate the newly remodeled restaurant.

A special ceremony was held Tuesday to celebrate the newly remodeled Vazzy’s of Stratford.

What began as a deli in 1997 before switching to a full-service restaurant two years later now features a new bar and three flat-screen TVs. Forty-five seats have been added to bring the total capacity to 120. The restaurant has expanded into a space that was formerly used as a chiropractic facility and offers a completely remodeled interior.

“The addition was my way of saying thank you to Stratford residents and customers for years of loyalty,” said owner Sam Khalil.

Members of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, and Stratford Mayor John A. Harkins were amongst those in attendance on Tuesday.

“It’s a great business, a great establishment with a great reputation,” said Harkins. “We’re glad to see that they are growing in town.”

Also on hand was the executive director of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce, Mary Dean.

“It’s wonderful to see restaurants expanding and doing better in the community,” said Dean. “They’ve been around for a long time and I think they have great food.”

Lunch at Vazzy’s begins at 11 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. The menu offers unique and homemade Italian food. Frittatas, country club sandwiches and grilled panini are available as well as soups, salads and pastas. Dinner, which is served from 3 p.m. to close, offers house specialties such as veal parmigiana and Fettuccini Corbonara.

Specialty pizza, calzones and "super sandwiches" are available.

Vazzy’s also offers hot and cold catering for all occasions from banquets to last minute drop-offs. Bartenders, waitstaff, tents, chairs, china and linens are available to businesses as far away as Westchester, New York.

One customer at the ceremony yesterday, Etchie Pastorelle, said she works at a drug company and does a lot of catering between Connecticut and New York.

“I like their food because they give a lot and it’s always fresh,” she said of the catering services.

An array of food, dessert and beverages were provided by Vazzy’s for Tuesday’s ceremony. Currently the bar serves beer and wine, in addition to cappuccino, espresso, coffee, tea and soda. Liquor is expected to be sold in the future.

Vazzy’s is located at 3355 Main St. in Stratford. For more information, please visit their website at www.vazzysct.com.
