The Watermark at 3030 Park Hosts Bi-Weekly Parkinson's Fitness Class
Class is designed to improve mobility for people living with Parkinson's disease
The Watermark at 3030 Park is continuing to offer its Parkinson’s Fitness Class, a bi-weekly class designed to help people living with Parkinson’s engage their muscles and increase mobility.
Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:45 at the continuing care retirement community, located at 3030 Park Avenue on the Bridgeport-Fairfield town line.
The class is led by Cindy McGuire, The Watermark’s Fitness Director, who designed a special program of balance and strengthening exercises that specifically target muscles sometimes affected by Parkinson’s. She focuses on large muscles groups initially, such as the legs and back and adds light weights and balls for upper body strength and endurance. All of the movements done will assist in improving balance as well as flexibility and stamina.
