Winter Storm Notices Issued In Stratford

Officials announce a parking ban and other notices for residents in advance of a powerful nor'easter storm.

STRATFORD, CT — (From Town Hall): A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Stratford area from 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28 until 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29. Snow is expected to begin during the early hours of Saturday morning and conclude Saturday evening. Total accumulation for the region is estimated between 6 and 12 inches. Winds may gust up to 45 mph with near-blizzard conditions. Travel may become hazardous.

PARKING BAN

In anticipation of the forecasted inclement winter weather, we are instituting a Parking Ban in Stratford effective 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning, Jan. 29, until 7 a.m. Monday morning, Jan. 31, to facilitate snow removal. Residents should park on the odd-numbered side of the street.

Town Hall offices of the Tax Collector and Tax Assessor will be closed Saturday, Jan. 29. Special extended hours in those offices will be Monday Jan. 31 and Tuesday Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

POWER OUTAGES

MEDICAL

Those with medical devices such as oxygen should contact their service providers today to ensure they have what they need during the storm. Those who are ill should contact their physician to prepare in case their health condition worsens during the storm.

ROADS

The public is advised if they do not need to be on the roads on Saturday, they should stay off them for safety and to facilitate snow removal. Public safety is staffed in accordance with the indicated probable weather conditions.

Reserve calls to 911 for emergencies only. For routine services for police, fire or EMS, call 203-385-4100. Public Safety will be staffed according to the severity of the storm.

The offices of the Tax Collector and Tax Assessor will have special extended hours Monday, Jan. 31 and Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Taxes are due by Feb. 1.
