104 Years Later, She’s Still In Suffield

Honored as Suffield Academy's oldest living student, she continues to make local history.

SUFFIELD, CT — A familiar face with deep local roots just marked a milestone few ever reach.

Fran Morway, a lifelong Suffield resident, celebrated her 104th birthday on Feb. 1, surrounded by the community she has called home for more than a century.

Born Feb. 1, 1922, in Suffield, Morway was raised on her family’s farm alongside her five siblings. Her ties to town run deep. She attended Suffield Academy, which honored her in 2024 as its oldest living student.

More than 100 years after her birth in the same town, Morway remains an active part of the community. She now resides at Suffield by the River, where she attends every exercise class and keeps moving by walking the halls during the winter months.

Longevity, she says, runs in the family. Morway proudly notes that her baby brother recently turned 102.
