5 Things To Know In Suffield: South Main Multifamily Plan, Middle School And Firehouse Talks And More

SUFFIELD, CT — Suffield's Conservation Commission moves to a larger room for a hearing on a multifamily development on South Main Street, the selectmen, finance board and building commission meet jointly on plans for Suffield Middle School and Fire House 1, and Phelps Road is being rebuilt.
Here are five things to know about life around Suffield this week:
1. Multifamily Development Hearing On South Main Street
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m. (also on Zoom)
Where: Suffield Senior Center, 145 Bridge St.
What to know: The Conservation Commission will hold a public hearing on MI 22 LLC's permit application for a multifamily development on the east side of South Main Street near Barry Place, according to the agenda. The meeting was moved to the Senior Center "due to anticipated attendance," according to the town calendar. The commission will also discuss an Eagle Scout project at the Silver Creek Crossing property.

2. Joint Meeting On Middle School, Fire House 1
When: Thursday, Oct. 15, 6 p.m. (livestreamed)
Where: Suffield Middle School Auditorium, 350 Mountain Road
What to know: The Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance and Permanent Building Commission will meet together on the Facilities Master Plan for Suffield Middle School and Fire House 1, in a special meeting called by First Selectman Colin Moll, according to the agenda.

3. Finance Board Reviews Investments, Audit
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m.
Where: Suffield High School Media Center, 1060 Sheldon St., West Suffield
What to know: The Board of Finance will review the town's OPEB, capital and cemetery fund investments with Focus Partners, budget-to-actual reports for the last and current fiscal years, an internal controls audit and fraud risk assessment, the 2026 annual audit and an update on bonded projects, according to the agenda.

4. Phelps Road Being Rebuilt
When: Underway since Sept. 30
Where: Phelps Road at Mountain Road, Suffield
What to know: Crews are rebuilding Phelps Road from Mountain Road to the island at Copper Hill Road, milling the asphalt and 10 inches of base, adding geogrid and new gravel, repaving and installing new curbs, according to the town. The road is down to one lane in places, the work-zone speed limit is 20 mph, and residents should move private items out of the town right of way, usually within 10 feet behind the curb.

5. Repair Cafe At The Senior Center
When: Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Suffield Senior Center, 145 Bridge St.
What to know: A Repair Cafe is on the town's calendar for Saturday at the Senior Center. The town also announced a tax sale for Dec. 10; listings are at cttaxsales.com.
