Accused Murderer Found Dead in Suffield Jail Cell

He was being held on $2 million bond at a Suffield prison following his arrest in connection with the murder of his wife.

SUFFIELD, CT — A man accused of killing his wife in their Newington home in September was found dead in his jail cell Monday morning, the Hartford Courant reported.

Michael Torbicki, Jr., 45, was discovered with a ligature around his neck around 5:30 a.m. in his cell at the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter at an area hospital.

Torbicki has been held in lieu of $2 million bond following his arrest connected to the shooting death of his wife, Patricia, on Sept. 21.

Patricia Torbicki, 46, was found dead in their home around 9 a.m. on Sept. 21. She had been shot in the head and leg, according to an affidavit supporting her husband's arrest.
